When you consider how much technology we have in our homes compared to 30 years ago, the difference is staggering. From Alexa devices to smart TVs, our homes are full of technology that can help to make our life easier. However, it isn’t just at home that we’re noticing a difference when it comes to technology usage – lots of industries are benefiting from the use of technology within their business too!
The Great Social Media Outage of October 2021
If you’re anything like me, then you felt the social media outage last night. Yesterday evening Facebook had issues with their servers which meant that Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp were out of service for a number of hours. When this happened it seemed like many people had the same idea as me – and we all to took Twitter! However it wasn’t just everyday users that did it – businesses also jumped on board and made sure they were all over Twitter too, knowing that the traffic on Twitter would be much higher than a standard Monday evening.
This switch to another social media platform just goes to show how much of a reliance we have on technology – we didn’t opt to switch off and spend time with our families when the platforms broke, we just found a new way to access the technology we all know and love – and it’s a trend we see throughout so much of the technology we’re now used to having in our lives.
Technology Within Business
There are many ways that businesses now take advantage of technology advances, however the automating of systems used for inspecting goods and quality control is definitely one of them. As a business, no matter what industry you’re in, you’re going to want to make sure that you’re putting out how quality items every single time. With the right technology place (such as some of the options on this website), this whole process can be automated – saving on manpower! It also means that quality inspections can take place 24 hours a day, rather than needing to allow for staff to be involved which can massively increase production levels. Even things like printers that can continue through the night without needing to be reloaded by staff members can help a business produce more products – great for when there is an increase in demand because it prevents any issues with companies keeping up with customer demand.
Technology at Home
The automating of services within business is a great achievement and something that businesses are likely to continue to expand on over coming years. We can do the same at home – for example, adding items to our shopping list via Alexa has never been easier. A ring doorbell lets you see who’s at your front door even if you’re not home and accessing emails on the move has never been easier. We’re definitely a generation that is learning to make the most of ever-changing technology both at home and in business and this is a trend that isn’t likely to change any time soon!
What technology do you benefit from at home or work?
