3 Easy Ways To Do Your Bit For The Environment

Do your bit for the environment – I was recently invited to take a look at the Oceans Plastic Free page and was surprised at some of the statistics that they shared. However, what I loved was the tips they shared on being a bit more eco friendly. It’s actually quite easy to make small changes and do your bit for the environment – so here’s a look at how.

Look After Your Stuff

This might sound like an obvious one, but looking after your stuff really does help. For example, repairing electrical gadgets when they go wrong rather than just replacing them – but you really should look after them in the first place to reduce the chance of them getting broken. If you do have an item that is broken and you can not repair it for some reason, make sure you look into recycling schemes so that as much of the item can be reused as possible.

Do your bit for the environment and Change How you Drive

Although we can’t all swap to electric cars or commit to driving less, the way we drive definitely has an impact. One top tip is to make sure that your car is well maintained and driving to the best of its ability. Did you know that underinflated tyres can result in your journey using more fuel?

Not only is that not great for the environment but with the rising cost of petrol, none of us wants to be spending more on fuel than we need to! Trying to drive at a steady speed rather than accelerating lots and then braking hard helps to make sure that your car is as efficient as possible too!

Transport and the greater question of how we continue to power our own logistics is something all governments are taking seriously, just as you do your bit for the environment, they are all working on doing theirs.

Do your bit for the environment and Be Savvy At Home

Our homes are responsible for large chunks of carbon emissions and plenty of waste too – so being as savvy as possible at home really makes the difference. Try to get into the habit of recycling as much home waste as possible; because this really does make a difference.

Meal planning and getting inventive with what meals you can make with leftovers really helps too; food waste quickly adds up and gives a perfect opportunity to do your bit for the environment.

This time of year watching our heating bills makes a big difference; something that we’re all keen to do thanks to the rising cost of heating! That doesn’t mean that you should go without heating, but looking at home insulation and ways that you can make sure your home is as energy efficient as possible all helps. Consider which rooms you don’t need radiators on, ensure that doors and windows are closed and even closing internal doors when the heating is on all make a big difference.

Do your bit for the environment and recycle your waste electronics

Oceans Plastic Free are keen to share their knowledge and encourage you to do the same. They have recently launched a really fun Seas the Day page with puzzles and quizzes to expand your knowledge. Not only are that actually pretty fun to complete but you’ll come away knowing a bit more about ecosystems and the part we play. If you do head over to the #SeasTheDay website let me know how you go on with the quiz!

If we all do our bit for the environment, we have the ability to improve our own chances and the chances of all future generations and wildlife on this planet.
