Cosy Corners and Autumn Refreshes: How I’m Bringing Warmth into Our Home

Cosy Corners and Autumn Refreshes – Bringing Warmth into Our Home – I always think there’s something magical about autumn. The air turns crisp, the kids come home with muddy wellies, and suddenly I’m in full-on nesting mode, lighting candles and craving cosy evenings in. This year, after moving into our new place not long ago, that urge to make things feel warm and homely has been stronger than ever.

Once the boxes were unpacked (mostly), I realised how much the walls were crying out for a bit of love. A few empty spaces here and there, and that typical “new build” blankness that just doesn’t feel like home yet. So, I decided it was time to do a little seasonal spruce-up — nothing drastic, just a few thoughtful touches and some lovely wall art to bring everything together.

Welcoming Autumn In

Autumn decorating doesn’t need to mean pumpkins and orange everything (though no judgement if that’s your thing!). For me, it’s more about texture, warmth, and subtle colour. Think soft throws, a new cushion or two, and art that makes you want to curl up with a cuppa.

I started by choosing a few prints in muted tones — deep greens, soft beiges, and hints of rust. They instantly added depth to our living room without feeling too busy. I mixed in a few nature-inspired pieces to tie in with the view from the garden, and the effect was just what I’d hoped for: calm, cosy, and a little bit grown-up (even if the toys still dominate the floor most days).

Creating a Home that Feels ‘Us’

The thing I’ve loved most about pulling this all together is how much personality it’s added. Our home finally feels like us — relaxed, welcoming, and a little imperfect in the best way.

I’ve always believed that wall art is one of the easiest ways to change the mood of a room. You don’t need to repaint or replace furniture; just swap a few prints, and it’s like a mini makeover. Plus, choosing pieces that mean something — maybe a quote you love or a landscape that reminds you of somewhere special — makes the space feel truly personal.

For our hallway, I picked a simple monochrome line drawing to keep things light. The bedroom got a bit of romance with soft abstract art, while the kitchen now has a cheerful print that makes me smile every morning (even before coffee, which says a lot).

A Little Bonus for Fellow Home-Lovers

If you’ve been thinking about freshening up your walls too, this is the perfect time to do it. Desenio currently have a brilliant offer on: use the code LLIBRE  for 45% off prints (personalised ones excluded) and 10% off frames — but throughout November.

It’s such an easy way to make your home feel more seasonal without spending a fortune — especially if you fancy giving your space a bit of a glow-up before the cosy months ahead.

The Finishing Touches

Now that the prints are up, I’ve been lighting candles in the evenings, snuggling under blankets, and feeling that lovely sense of “ahh, home”. The walls finally tell our story — and that’s what decorating is all about, isn’t it?

So if your rooms are feeling a bit flat or you’re just craving a refresh, have a little browse for some wall art that makes you happy. A few prints, some soft lighting, and a hot chocolate later — and you’ve got the perfect cosy corner to see you through autumn.
