Whether you’re working from home as part of your normal 9-5, or you’ve decided to start up your own home based business, you’ll probably have noticed that working from home can be difficult. It can be hard to find your ‘get up and go’ in the mornings, and even harder to stay motivated throughout the day, when all you really want to do is curl up on the sofa and watch TV.
If this sounds a bit like you, this blog post is just what you need. I have been there and done that, so I know just how hard it can be to find your motivation when you’re working from home. Here are a few tips that I’ve found have been invaluable when it’s come to helping me to stay focused and achieve all my work based goals on time.
Stay Motivated when Working From Home – Start a productive and proactive morning routine.
So you may not have to get up as early or tackle the commute to work anymore, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you can lounge around in bed. Instead, use this time to create a morning routine that wakes you up, gets you moving, and sets you up to have a motivating day of working at home.
It’s a great idea to plan yourself a morning routine, and there are lots of resources online on how to best create a morning routine that works for you. Ideally, you want to create a morning routine that makes you feel good about yourself and wakes your body up. It needs to be repeatable daily so that it eventually turns into a habit. This is the foundation of what will set you up for a productive day of working from home.
Your levels of motivation will soar when you begin your day in the right way. Don’t forget to do something that gets your body moving and ensure you have a nourishing breakfast to fuel you for the day.
Stay Motivated when Working From Home – Understand when you have the most energy and when you tend to slump.
We all have a period of the day where we have maximum energy levels and we also naturally have a time of the day when our energy levels tend to slump. Figuring out when these important energy levels kick in will help you to remain motivated and productive throughout your working day.

Schedule your tasks so that the longest or most complex tasks can be completed when your energy levels are at their peak. This will allow you to fully focus on the task at hand and you’ll be able to complete the task with the right amount of dedication and motivation.
Stay Motivated when Working From Home – Track your tasks and reward yourself for a job well done.

Working from home is difficult sometimes, we miss out on a lot of the social interactions we’re used to and it can be difficult to stay motivated without your peers there to cheer you on. That is why it’s more important than ever when working from home to make sure you’re tracking your work-related tasks and rewarding yourself when you’ve accomplished what you need to.
Dig out those planners and diaries to keep track of your daily work goals and deadlines, or use an online website such as Trello to ensure that you’re always 100% ready for the day’s tasks. Take regular breaks to stretch your legs, and don’t forget to take your lunch break! Once you’ve completed your goals for the day, do something nice to reward yourself.
If you have any tips on working from home we’d love you to share them.
