Once again fireworks night is fast approaching and so you might be considering what you can make to keep the family fed. The tricky thing with fireworks night is that you don’t want to spend all night slaving away in the kitchen because then you miss the fireworks and spending time with your loved ones. Here are some Bonfire Night food ideas that ticks all the boxes.
Jacket Potatoes
The great thing about jacket potatoes is that you can prep them early and finish them off when the time comes – and then keep them warm until everyone is ready to dish up. The best way I have found to do jacket potatoes personally is to blast them in the microwave, when they’re soft rub the skins with oil, salt and pepper and then finish in the air fryer to crisp up. You can then put them in the slow cooker or oven to keep warm. Get super organised and set out the filling choices in advance and then when everyone is hungry they can dish themselves up exactly the type of potato that they like – just don’t forget to have plenty of butter on hand.
Chilli
Chilli is a good idea because you can cook a meat, or a vegetarian option – or both if you’re feeling generous. Much like jacket potatoes, chilli is a great thing to make in advance and then keep in the slow cooker to keep warm. Set out some cheese, sour cream and tortilla chips on the table and then when it comes to dishing up grub time life is made nice and easy!
Soup
If you’re not providing a full dinner and instead want to just to provide something to keep people warm then soup is a great idea. Of course, you can make your own but a few tins put into a saucepan to heat through works just as well too. Some tiger bread and plenty of butter will keep all of your guests happy!
These are all designed to be easy meals, to keep everyone warm and fed but if you have any bonfire night food ideas feel free to share!
